“Motherhood is the greatest thing and the hardest thing.” – Ricki Lake.

Happy Mother’s Day!

A mother’s love is unlike any other, and our one-of-a-kind relationships can never be compared. To be a mother is a privilege and a joy.

For those who have experienced motherhood would likely agree that it is a profound and complex journey. I believe mothers around the world deserve more recognition and support for not just one day per year but 365 days for all that they do — all that they are.

Nothing compares with a mother’s love. Mothers are a source of ultimate comfort for all of us! We support those we love through thick and thin, nurturing everyone we encounter and bringing out the best in them as we do.

I identified with my role as a mother for much of my young adulthood. My sons and grandchildren call me Mata, and my daughter calls me Mommy.

No matter the names our children call us, whether a biological new mother or grandmother — an adoptive mother or guardian mother — we give time and resources with our hearts and souls.

By gifting the remarkable woman in your life with Flower Essence Aromatherapy that tells her how much you care, as much as you delight and nurture her, you’ll let her know how much you appreciate her love.

Ambassadors of Care

A mother’s care is expressed by nurturing and caring for her loved ones. Generally, empathy, compassion, and generosity are the hallmarks of the caregiver archetype.

Rooted in a deep desire to serve others with the highest level of generosity, the mother caregiver archetype gives selflessly for the greater good.

This powerful archetype provides the personality and behavior traits everyone can relate to and instinctively respond to.

Our ideas of motherhood are influenced and deeply connected to our most idealistic beliefs about love and selflessness. Our cultural vision of motherhood is informed by myths and misconceptions that shape our thinking without conscious awareness.

As ambassadors of caregiving, women are susceptible to depleting their energy resources. Most mothers would agree that pregnancy and parenthood profoundly change us physically, psychologically, socially, and spiritually.

Motherhood comes with sleepless nights, worry, and selfless love. It’s exhausting, inspiring, soul-sucking, and purpose-giving. It makes you question everything while also feeling like you know nothing.

Balancing motherhood, jobs, perhaps caring for an elderly parent, and still showing up with our best selves is not easy. While a stay-at-home mom might have the support of a spouse to take care of the kids and the family while managing household chores, a single mom struggles to earn enough while juggling all the moving parts of raising a family.

Earth Goddess Mother

I most deeply resonate with the Earth Goddess Mother facet of the Caregiver archetype. She boasts a deep, instinctive, and spiritual connection to nature and “Mother Earth.”

She embodies the Sacred Feminine, who gives birth and continuously creates the best conditions for sustaining life. Her regenerative powers inextricably linked her to the cycles of the seasons, the moon, and her menses.

This dimension of caring comes not from science but from understanding nature’s inherent healing goodness. Through her sexuality, fecundity, supply of breast milk, and childrearing, her nurturing qualities carry the motherline forward to ensure her offspring’s sustainable health and well-being.

During my elder years, this archetype manifests with a grandmother’s loving wisdom for my grandchildren and their well-being, autonomy, and gifts as they unfold their potential.

Likewise, flower essence aromatherapy offerings reflect my caregiving values. Alchemical wellness care promotes organic botanical remedies aimed to connect to the vast intelligence of Mother Earth and our need for simple solutions for ourselves and our families.

The Scent of Motherhood

Our babies are hard-wired to know their mothers through scent. When they smell their mother’s scent, babies feel calm and secure. But that unique smell can also help your baby bond with other caregivers!

A baby’s sense of smell is essential for their survival. This intricate system, which also influences our autonomic nervous system (heartbeat, breathing, digestive process, etc.) and endocrine system (sexual function, hormones, sleep, etc.), is a complex and influential part of our ability to bond with others.

And, since oxytocin, the bonding hormone that scientists agree is the “super glue” of relationship bonding, is released in significant amounts during sexual climax and childbirth, breastfeeding, and skin-to-skin contact, there are botanical aromas that uniquely connect us similarly.

If motherhood had a scent, it would be that of rose, lavender, jasmine, and vanilla.

Oil of Rose

“The “Queen of Flowers,” the scent of rose ignites heart-love wherever its scent floats”

Rose Otto is one of nature’s most precious essential oils. This beautiful aroma comforts and strengthen the heart – physically and emotionally, balancing the hormones and rejuvenating the spirit.

Rose oil’s cooling, soothing, and astringent effects reduce fatigue to soothe the mind, elevate the mood, improve the appearance of the skin, and encourage feelings of love and balance.

Amore Love Oil is infused with the finest organic Bulgarian Rosa Damascena. This beautiful aroma uplifts and comforts all mothers by invoking feelings of patience, happiness, contentment, and love.

Safe for mothers and babies alike, Amore Love Oil is non-toxic, non-irritating, and non-sensitizing. It may be enjoyed in various ways suitable for direct use on the skin.

Lavender

“Forgiveness is the scent of lavender.”

Lavender essential oil is known for its soothing, calming, and therapeutic properties. Its calming properties are ideal for a mom easily overwhelmed by everything she juggles. Lavender is well-known to reduce the number of health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, irritability, headaches, migraines, and stress.

Fleur Prasanta Calming Oil is an ideal gift for someone who has to cope with these conditions or as a kind gesture to show that you care for the woman you love. Alchemy Glow Starter

Its alchemical synergy blend is formulated with a proprietary combination of vibrational flower essences and the pairing of sweet lavender and orange organic essential oils in a jojoba oil base, so it’s safe for mothers and babies alike.

Add a pump of oil to Sea of Life 50/50 Bath Salts for a luxurious stress-relieving bath with our Alchemy Glow Starter Bundle.

Jasmine

“The fragrance of the jasmine is like the dew of a mother’s unconditional love.”

The flower associated with Mother’s Day in Thailand is none other than jasmine. The scent of jasmine represents a mother’s unconditional love.

One of my favorites, jasmine’s aroma, has a rich, sultry scent that makes a woman feel alluring and romantic. Just smelling the scent of jasmine instills a sense of balance, possibilities, hope, connectedness, and confidence.

Breast Health AlchemyJasmine essential oil contains several health-promoting properties, including antibacterial and anti-depressive properties. That’s why I’ve added it to Fleur Sundari Breast Oil.

Moisturizing and soothing, Sundari Breast Oil, when massaged into the breast tissue, is easily absorbed to condition and improve the skin’s elasticity and nourish healthy breast tissue.

The relaxing scent of jasmine allows a mother to relax during breastfeeding. While there is no definitive evidence yet, some experts believe that certain compounds in jasmine oil might also encourage better milk production during lactation.

But no matter a woman’s stage in life, using our Breast Health Alchemy Bundle is one of the most effective and nourishing ways to maintain healthy breast tissue before potential issues arise.

Establish a daily self-care ritual to improve your overall health and keep your breasts free from toxins.

Vanilla

“The sweet scent of comfort.”

The scent of vanilla is not only identified with warmth, softness, and caring but also evokes feelings of purity and simplicity.

Mom can always use a little more serenity whether she’s facing self-induced pressure or the added demands of family and a job. The scent of vanilla is for the mom who harbors unrealistic expectations about being the “perfect” mom.

Shanti Serenity Body Oil alchemical synergy blend is formulated with a proprietary combination of vibrational flower essences and organic essential oils of Lavender, Neroli, Myrrh, Clary Sage, Melissa, and Bourbon Vanilla in a base of Jojoba oil.

The aromatherapeutic benefits of smelling vanilla impart feelings of peace, comfort, and contentment. Emotionally and energetically, the rich, warm aroma softens extreme emotions, encouraging patience, awareness, and peace in mind, body, and spirit.

The slightly intoxicating aroma of vanilla may also elicit happy memories to bring home comforting feelings of belonging and pleasure.

Encouraging Self-Care Rituals for a Mother

Self-care and self-esteem are seamlessly linked with a healthy sense of responsibility. Self-sacrifice inevitably leads to guilt, envy, resentment, anger, and martyrdom.

These emotions are associated with elevated stress hormones cortisol and epinephrine levels. When chronically out of balance, they increase insulin levels, ultimately resulting in cellular inflammation in the body — the root of all disease.

In all its many guises, self-sacrificing programming is the “chain of pain” many mothers have. Where did women learn this approach to life? From their own mothers who struggled in their own ways to fit into society’s expectations and a patriarchal culture that didn’t value them as much as men.

When we sacrifice our lives for the perceived good of others without including our own needs, we participate in behavior that makes and keeps us sick.

Encouraging mom to take time with daily care rituals contributes dramatically to her health and happiness. If a woman feels good about herself, she will want to take care of herself.

Remind Yourself or Mom That You Are Good Enough

One of the most painful symptoms of motherhood is the belief that you are not a good mother. Feelings of worthlessness, shame, guilt, and inadequacy can plague you if you maintain that your motherhood journey is not going according to plan.

Some mothers, though they love their children, are not biologically wired for motherhood to fulfill them at the deepest levels. For daughters who are now mothers themselves, their mothers’ stuck emotions and toxic behaviors teach us there is no right way to be a mother.

As adult women, we must find new role models who relate positively and healthily. Appreciating and understanding how you’ve influenced each other opens the heart to accept and love yourself, to show up and mother with new choices, and expand your mothering possibilities.

That woman who is a surrogate mother to me is Maggie Smith, the original founder of Flower Essence Energy. Over the years, she has generously guided me with her wisdom as much as sharing her unconditional love.

What We Give and the Reward of What We Receive

The rewards that you reap from being a mother far outweigh the sacrifices you’ve made. Embracing motherhood is humbling. It’s messy. We are imperfectly human.

Appreciating the struggles and sleepless nights and asking for help along the way brings unexpected rewards. Motherhood necessitates a healthy dose of self-forgiveness for the many mistakes we make. It requires heaps of patience and self-acceptance.

It’s the reward of knowing that you’ve done your caring best, usually when in moments, you notice your child’s kindness, receive an unasked-for hug or a simple acknowledgment, “I love you,” or “Thank you.”

My daughter Ary, my sons, and my grandchildren are a source of much love!

Keep in mind, though, that Mother’s Day celebrates every mother. No matter where you are in your mothering journey, you are worthy of the love and celebration on Mother’s Day.

To all mothers, may you be rewarded with more care and love than you have ever dreamed of.

All my aromatic love,

Vidya
