This Ritual Essence was made in the in the late afternoon at the Kilauea iki crater, at Volcanoes National Park. The barren, hardened, half-mile crater floor is what used to be a lava lake that appears as a vast wasteland devoid of life. The otherworldly terrain makes it unique among Hawai’ian craters.
Despite the crater’s appearance from above, hidden geothermal steam vents rise from cracks bringing warm, moist steam to the surface.
